I am a senior and this will be my fourth year on staff. I look forward to newspaper everyday because it allows me to work at my own pace while developing my journalism skills. While I can sometimes lack focus, the results of my work always end up meeting my standards. I spend most of my time outside of school going out with friends and discovering new things. The first thing I think about when I wake up in the morning is why did I set my alarm this early?

Holding his hand up while harmonizing, junior Andrew Gwin stands back to back with senior Connor Dolan as they perform at the December Jazz Choir concert. Gwin feels lucky to be performing on stage for an audience again. “Everyone was having a great time working and performing off of each other,” Gwin said. “It was refreshing to be able to perform again after a year of not being on stage. It's a great feeling having the audience watch you do your thing.”

Conferencing with his coach after a meet, sophomore Jack Windler reflects on his performance from the previous event. Due to the many doubts about if there would even be a season, Windler felt grateful that he was able to swim for his school. “Receiving the news from MSHSAA that there would be a season was relieving,” Windler said. “This year really gave me a chance to reconnect with the team [as] a whole.”

Using a bandana as a makeshift mask, sophomore Ellie Moriarity adjusts it on her face before she begins to drive. Moriarity believes there is always a risk associated with leaving your house during these uncertain times. “I think it's important to wear a mask right now because there is no way of knowing if you have contracted the coronavirus,” Moriarity said. “It's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to protecting those around you.”

Moving her hand to to copy the leader, freshman Harlei Young participates in the ‘say it and do it’ activity in the third common ground of the year. The main focus of this activity was to examine the concept of honor and if students would remove themselves from the game if they did not follow the leader. “Common Ground is great because it gives us a place to ask questions and a group of people to talk to,” Young said. “We play games as a group and it lets us get to know other students.”
