Yes, I shop in the men’s department. Read on, and you might start to as well.

In this progressive day and age, a girl in guy’s clothes may not be as taboo as it used to be, but some girls still hesitate to venture into the men’s department. Maybe you’re that kind of girl, or maybe it has never even crossed your mind. Regardless, there may just be some fashion statements you’re missing out on by not taking the leap.

Maybe it’s just something that comes from being 5’9” and having two older brothers with loads of hand-me-downs, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt out of my element when wearing something intended for guys. Actually, some of my favorite looks have come from pieces I’ve stolen from my brothers’ closets. Still, you don’t have to be a giant to get your money’s worth out of men’s clothing. An extra-small can go a long way! While I’m not jumping to trade my skinny jeans for a pair from the men’s department, there are some guy trends that either gender can rock- and it might be time for us girls to start.

Aside from being pricier, girl’s clothing also often lacks comfort, an issue that’s tough to find in a guy’s sweater. Jackets and sweatshirts are more reliable to keep you warm. Aside from these, there are other trends that diverge more from traditional feminine looks. For instance, men’s button-ups are more structured and create a different frame altogether. Sweats are also significantly more comfortable when picked out from the men’s department, and accessories like beanies prove warmer for the beginning of cold fall weather. I hope you’ll take a look at my gallery and get inspired to try some different looks. These are only a few of the possibilities!
