On Tuesday, April 14, the varsity boys’ water polo team competed against Lafayette High School, celebrating the Class of 2026 for their Senior Night. With a final score of 6-5, the Longhorns brought back a victory. The win was even more rewarding as the team had previously lost to Lafayette twice this season.
“We had to put in quite a bit of work to prepare for the game, just because [Lafayette is] an interesting team with some interesting ways of playing offense and defense. So preparing for their specific style took a lot of time. Eventually, we got there. It took a few games, but we figured it out,” captain and senior Ryan Hamdi said.
In addition, the game was Senior Night, honoring and celebrating the seven seniors of the team and their high school careers.
“I thought it was a really good game. I couldn’t have asked for a better senior night. It was a little scary, considering it was going to be a close game and knowing that’s [our] senior night. We had such a great audience there. It was really cool to hear everybody cheering, and it made for a really special senior night because of how good of a game it was,” Hamdi said.
With a 15-5 record, the Longhorns are already more than halfway through the season and are determined to finish strong. As a four-year member of the team, captain and senior Max Moore has witnessed the team grow and has hopes for the state competition.
“Last year we had a rough season and the year before that was a little worse, but we’ve always kind of placed in the top [of the] state. We had two rough years, but we’ve been building up towards [state] since our sophomore years. We’re trying to bring back the [success of the] team. All of us have our own goals, but it sums [up] around us putting up a good fight and trying to win state,” Moore said.

The game also marked Senior Night, celebrating the seven seniors of the team. “It was a really close game the whole time, and we ended up winning six to five. I scored two goals. It's kind of sad [because this is my last season], but it's also a lot of fun,” Moore said.](https://pwestpathfinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/MBS_7153-edited-1200x801.jpg)
