Helping to transport cans and other food items from West High’s food drive to the Parkway Food Pantry, sophomore Max Jones carries a box into a truck. Nov. 21 marked the end of West High’s annual canned food drive. “The food drive is a really great opportunity for everyone to get involved in helping a bigger cause. It’s great that [the West community] can make a difference in a big way through this food drive,” Jones said.

On April 28, the Empty Bowls Pottery Sale was held at the art show in Queeny Park. Selling an assortment of pots, plates, bowls and more, the sale hoped to raise money for the Parkway Food Pantry. Ashley Drissell is the Ceramics teacher and organizer of the Empty Bowls Pottery Sale. “I enjoy interacting with people and seeing children get excited about picking up and looking at pottery. It’s fun to see different people connecting with certain pieces,” Drissell said.

Editors for the Parkway West Pathfinder help organize the Pathfinder product drive. The team collected and sorted donations from each English teacher’s room after school from Nov. 14 - Nov. 21. “Our goal was originally to give each family seven additional items for the month of December, and we have far surpassed our goal now,” Pathfinder editor and senior Elle Rotter said. “We passed that goal by the third day of the drive, and it was amazing how many people donated.”
