Newton’s involvement in West athletics encouraged him to play in the Senior vs. Faculty basketball game. “I just wanted to go play basketball and compete. [Playing] with the other teachers against the seniors was just a fun opportunity. [It was great] with 1200 people in the gym, a good environment and a back-and-forth game,” Newton said.
