Paddling through the pool, junior Nicholas Hayek laughs with his friends as they attempt to kayak for the first time. Hayek chose to take Adventure pursuits so he could have a break in his day from the typical in-classroom setting and get outdoors with friends. “I was in Adventure Pursuits, and we were kayaking. It’s definitely a [unique] class in the building, and it teaches [students] a lot of valuable things that [they] probably don’t know, like fire building, and all the important outdoor skills,” Hayek said.
