The Walk-a-Thon will be on Nov. 22 from 3-9p.m. in the stadium.

For the first year ever, the students of LOCO, are hosting a Walk-A-Thon. All the proceeds will go to West Chest, which is an organization that helps kids who attend West get the things they need.

The event will be held on Nov. 22 between 3-9 p.m.

“I am really excited for the Walk-a-Thon because everyone that is participating is doing a good deed and it is fun getting people outside of captains council involved to raise money for students at West,” junior Tucker Watts said.

Students will gather in teams of up to ten with one captain per team.

“It is hard getting a team of at least 10 or more because everyone wants to be a captain. I just want to get as many sophomores as possible since it is a competition between all the grades,” sophomore Maddie Rose said.

To prepare for the Walk-a-Thon, students made posters and flyers to hang up around school to help promote the event.

“Forming a team is definitely the hardest part about preparing for it because everyone is trying to steal my team members. Other than that it is a lot of fun getting everything ready,” senior Johnny Galvin said.

During the event there will be music and food available for participants convenience.

Each team has a sponsor that will pledge a certain amount of money and will donate based on the number of laps walked.

“I had to form a team because I am on Captain’s Council, but I am excited for the event. It’s a chance to raise money for a good cause and for the school to come together as a student body,” senior Dan Barlett said.

People can register by signing up with a team outside of Wayland’s room.
