Creating the blog “Good Song, Good Soul,” junior Arden Dickson shares lessons

Junior Arden Dickson acts out applying makeup onstage. Dickson believes that acting teaches you how to tell a story, which is also important for singing. This led her to create her blog where she shares her experiences with friends and family. “I have heard people [respond with] ‘thank you for sharing’ or ‘I have been in a similar situation myself,’ so it's good to hear that other people are also facing similar situations and that my work is helping others.”

Sophomore Anna Stephens steps into the spotlight

Performing in the musical “Seussical,” sophomore Anna Stephens dances and sings on stage in a purple dress alongside two other performers, playing one of the Bird Girls, a supporting lead role. Stephens was cast in the production through a local company called Spotlight Productions. “I loved getting to be sassy and have fun with my friends on stage. The Bird Girls helped narrate throughout the story and I loved the costumes very much,” Stephens said.

Students collaborate to produce original film “Glitch”

Junior Bella Meara and senior Emily Foy work in Anniversary Park to produce the student-made film “Glitch.” Foy worked with juniors Dani Fischer and Kristin Priest to write and film the short movie for an independent study this semester. “I’ve learned [through making “Glitch”] that no matter how much you plan for something, it’s never going to turn out exactly the way you thought it would,” Foy said. “Sometimes the end product is better than the original plan.”
