Advocating through art, junior Ava Buehler paints the face of a little girl in a mural for her Challenges to Democracy class. The mural was a representation of the educational inequality women in Afghanistan faced. “I hoped people would see the mural and realize how privileged we were and how there were many areas in the world where people didn’t have the rights that they deserved,” Buehler said.

Pushing past a defender and shooting the puck into the goal, senior Kirill Manoni scores a point against St. Louis University High School. Manoni believes hockey players should wear more protection. “Being on the ice, I am now more aware of my surroundings after the Adam Johnson story,” Manoni said.

Gearing up to take a shot on the goal, Zoran Todorovic prepares to score a goal for the Parkway West Varsity Soccer team against Marquette. “The most challenging part of the game was that it was the first game of the season. We are still getting used to each other’s style of play and building on the chemistry,” Todorovic said. “I had friends on the opposing team that I play club soccer with, so playing against them was my favorite part.”

“[The happiest moment of my life was when] my quartet and I qualified for state. It was a very pleasant surprise. Our quartet qualified on March 12; we stood outside the school we had just performed at when we found out. It was the best feeling ever. [Right now, our goal is] to prepare before state on April 30. We are performing two classical pieces, “Climb Up The Mountain” and “Brothers Sing On.” I've always had a love for music, and [I'm glad] we are given a chance to perform more competitively and possibly get the state title. It's exciting, kind of nerve-wracking, but exciting.”
