At her laptop, junior Ellie West takes notes on a pad. West is currently in Virtual Campus High. “I like to use sticky notes for individual thoughts,” West said. “I like that I can put them on my wall or move them around.”

Being the new kid at virtual school

We can all recall that “first day” feeling in August, an obscure mixture of excitement and nervousness. Typically, in a few days, that feeling subsides, and we fall into a routine.

Now, however, in the stretch of the third quarter, virtual students who were “new” this past August have still not come to know their classmates, community or school.
