Boys basketball prepares for district playoffs

When hard work, dedication and teamwork come together, the record speaks for itself, and it did 20-5. All the players are thinking about is one word: playoffs.

It’s almost that time, and with the high expectations aroused by the fans and the media, these players are focused for success.

Junior Wyatt Yess scored his 1000th point recently, so he has all eyes on him going into the playoffs.

“We need to come together as a team and play good basketball,” Yess said. “It’s one game and we’re out so we have to play every game like it’s our last.”

Though the team has a good chance, there is one thing holding them back according to Yess.

Shooting well is a key. We need to guard the paint and we’ll be fine,

“We are having some key players getting injured,” Yess said. “We need to rest up and get healthy before these games start.”

Besides the injuries, there is one recurring problem mentioned by the players: Westminster.

“Our toughest opponent is Westminster,” senior Nick Lathrop said. “They have a good player that we need to guard well and prepare for.”

Other players also mentioned Westminster.

“We need to treat every game like it’s our last, but we need to put lots of work in for Westminster,” Yess said.

The tension to keep winning is high due to a mostly senior line up.

“Any game could be our last,” Lathrop said. “We need to focus and we will go far.”

The players know what they need to do in order to win in the playoffs.

“We need to score,” senior Wyatt Harlan said. “Shooting well is a key. We need to guard the paint and we’ll be fine.”
