Hershey Hugs review: A candy worth the buy

The Hershey Hugs Kisses is a special candy made for Valentine’s season and manufactured by the Hershey’s company since 1993. These drops of delight are covered in pink and white tinfoil. The chocolate has stripes of milk chocolate and white chocolate, with a milk chocolate center. The packaging is pink with little white hearts spread around it and has a cookie recipe included on the back. While taste testing the Hershey Hugs, we noticed many details that differentiated it from the normal Kisses. It maintained a sort of zebra-like look throughout with white stripes and brown. We found the taste to be very rich in white chocolate with bursts of milk chocolate spread throughout. The texture was very smooth and silky and the chew was soft. The aftertaste was very strong and stayed for a few minutes. We were disappointed by the fact there was no filling on the inside since on the package it looks like there is. If you have milk, soy or nut allergies this product is not recommended.

The price for this chocolate can be very pricey for just a small bag. It ranges in stores from $3.99 to $11.75 depending on where you’re going. When we looked at the price for the chocolate we were stunned because it’s really not a big bag, and you can probably find a huge bag of normal Hershey Kisses somewhere for way less. Nevertheless, this may be only because it is a limited edition during this time of the season.

We rated the execution a 10.  The play on Valentine’s was clever and the name was pleasing. The looks received an 8 from us. The packaging design was simple and not too different from the regular ones. We gave the taste rating an 8.5. The chocolate was a perfect balance, rich and not too sweet. The overall experience was a 9. We had a lot of fun reviewing the food item, and would definitely eat it again.
