Waleed Abdulla
Senior Waleed Abdulla believes his high school experience made him a better person. From improvement in classes to meeting positive people, Abdulla learned to make the most of clubs and opportunities.
Navigating high school became simpler for Abdulla with the help of his sister. Abdulla’s sister was a senior when he was a freshman, so she helped him pick classes and find summer activities.
“Ironically my younger brother is now a freshman too, so we flipped roles in that now I’m the senior and he’s the freshman. I’m helping him out on stuff, so that’s pretty cool,” Abdulla said.
Looking back on freshman year, Abdulla reflects on the challenges of self motivation. Although he found little struggle in completing assignments, Abdulla had trouble going above and beyond in areas such as cross country and studying for large tests.
“If I could give any advice to my freshman self, I would say to spend more time on what you really like to do and what you really want to do. Definitely put more time into what you think is important instead of pushing it to your later years,” Abdulla said.
