Aliana Sawall
Senior Aliana Sawall feels that in order to be successful in high school, she had to overcome the mental block of not being able to ask for help. Once Sawall found a math teacher during her sophomore year that she was comfortable around, she was able to ask for help more often during class and study halls.
Aside from studying and school work, Sawall volunteers at an animal shelter and works at Kohl’s. Sawall is also involved in Model United Nations, Go with the Flow, Feminist club, Link Crew and Rho Kappa.
“When I first started school as a freshman, the most important thing to me was finding the right balance between doing school work and doing things with my friends and family,” Sawall said. “Now that I’m a senior, this aspect has mainly stayed the same, but now I focus on splitting up my time between school work, my job and spending time with friends and family. I’ve learned to manage my time better now that I have more on my plate.”
Sawall learned independence and responsibility throughout her high school journey. Dealing with disappointments and growing beyond mistakes shaped Sawall into the person she is today.
“If I was able to give my freshman self advice, I would say your friends are here to help you and they will go through whatever you’re going through with you,” Sawall said. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help because that advice might help you raise your grade. Make sure to get involved in clubs and activities because your four years of high school will be over before you know it.”
