Bridget Thomas
Unlike other cadet teachers, senior Bridget Thomas teaches in art teacher Katy Mangrich’s all-virtual class. While the class is on Zoom, she spends her hour working on art show videos and finishing her AP photo portfolio. Thomas has taken Mangrich’s classes before and decided to cadet teach for a teacher that she got along well with.
What is your favorite thing about cadet teaching?
“Second quarter, I made the art show video and it was fun and a little bit intricate because you had to go back and change names and transitions. I used iMovie for it and Mangrich helped a lot too,” Thomas said.
What is your least favorite thing about cadet teaching?
“I wish [the class] was in-person because I could help [the students] in the darkroom, so I feel like I’m missing out on that,” Thomas said.
What is your favorite memory from cadet teaching?
“[Mrs. Mangrich is] very chill and like ‘don’t sweat the small stuff’ while I always sweat the small stuff so it’s nice to have that type of presence. If I’m freaking out about one of my photo assignments she’ll help me do it and show me how to do it and walk me through the steps. Nothing is ever stressful in there,” Thomas said.
Would you recommend cadet teaching to other students?
“I think it’s a really cool way to meet a teacher in a new perspective and see their teaching style behind the scenes,” Thomas said.
