Junior Nidhi Pejathaya helped found West’s Sustainability Council to create a space where students can educate themselves about climate change and do their part to preserve the environment. “When you're going out of your way to recycle [or] reuse your clothes to save water, you're saving people. ![“I’m the vice president of the Muslim Student Association (MSA), the co-president of the Women in Healthcare club, and [am also in] of ABC club, NHS first aid, the diplomacy club, and other volunteering activities [in my community.] My main goal in these clubs is to be actively engaged in the school and give back to the community. [Through these opportunities,] I’ve learned to be a better organizer and planner, especially with my roles in MSA and Women in Healthcare. After begging Biology teacher Anthony Piccinni for the first week of school, sophomores Ally Guccione and Caroline Gibbs get the chance to hold Piccinni’s python. The snake couldn’t come out during the first week of school because Piccinni had already fed it for the month, which was known to make the snake aggressive. “I was [already] afraid of snakes, and I thought I would conquer my fear, but holding it made it worse,” Gibbs said.

What do you like about The Pathfinder? I like how the newspaper is actually successful among the student body. Many school newspapers are pretty much disregarded by the students, but since this one is online, accessible, and has interesting stories, it is really intriguing and relevant to the students.
How would you describe yourself? Hardworking and driven. I like the satisfaction of winning and feeling successful, I am very competitive, and I like taking on a challenge and honing my abilities.
