On Friday Nov. 30, varsity boys basketball walked away with a 39-32 win over the Parkway Central Colts. Going into the game, players were excited for another chance to take down their number one rivals after losing to them for the past few years.
“We hadn’t beat Central for a while. Now we get bragging rights for a year or at least until we play them again,” junior Jake Socha said.
Some highlights of the game included well-played defense, steals and free throws. Players relied on each other to do what they were supposed to do in order to win.
“We got that team chemistry,” senior Jerrord Williams said.
The team prepared for the game and scouted the Colts.
“The whole team did a great job of keeping up the intensity during practice which helped us prepare for the game,” Socha said.
When the game was over, the crowd stormed the court and celebrated with the boys.
“I was happy for varsity’s win and was excited that many people came out to support them,” coach John Wright said.
Varsity boys will be playing the Eureka Wildcats Friday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. in the main gym.
“I am expecting to win districts because it’s how I want to end my senior year,” Williams said.
