In Convergence Journalism class, sophomores Jordan Scales and Thomas Bruns watch the Inauguration Wednesday, Jan. 20. Despite it being President Joe Biden's inauguration, many viewers focused on Bernie Sanders' mittens. “When I heard about the inauguration I didn’t really care too much about it,” Scales said. “I didn’t have any favorite parts of it because I don’t really care about politics. Bernie Sanders' mittens looked pretty good though.”

McLeod has been a part of the varsity swim and dive team for two years, and has been swimming for seven years of her life. "It's a sport that takes a lot of perseverance. But it is also very rewarding to be a part of a team that is so driven and always brings each other up," McLeod said.

Weighing her options, junior Shemaiah Saunders aims to pass the ball and cut to the basket for a shot. This season, Saunders has had to play her games while wearing a mask. "It’s difficult [with] other kids playing sports trying to breath and feel comfortable," Saunders said. "But COVID-19 hasn’t really changed much... I’ve known most of my teammates since elementary school, so it’s just cool to continue to play with them and graduate with them."

Senior Braden Jensen sits on the stairs of his Jazz Choir classroom Nov. 19, his last day of in-person school for the semester. Jensen preferred in-person classes because it was easier for him to learn in a school setting, especially for choir. “Singing through a mask is pretty interesting because you had less air to breathe in and the sound that came out could be kind of muffled,” Jensen said. “[But] with [choir] it was much better to sing with each other in-person.”

Pilz attended both the sendoff and the State championship game. "It felt good to be able to support them through all this and watch them do such amazing things in their season," Pilz said. "They worked so hard for this, and I am beyond proud of my amazing friends and all they accomplished while dominating the court."

From cutting the wood for the project to painting the hutch, Albarcha and her dad worked on the project together. “I really enjoy getting to create things from my own vision, and most of all, I get to spend more time bonding with my dad, which wouldn’t usually happen due to school and work,” Albarcha said.

With a final score of 32-59, Reed and her team had to adapt to sudden changes before the game. “I was feeling frustrated during this game because one of my teammates wasn’t playing because she was hurt, so I had to step up, and the freshman had to step up. We were all playing different positions [than usual],” Reed said. “My teammates and the fun team environment keep me motivated.”
