Reading off Longhorn Pride Awards

Nayeon Ryu, Video Editor May 15, 2019

Every year for the honors ceremony, faculty members nominate one student each for the Longhorn Pride Award. We had some teachers read off the reasons they chose their recipient, to their recipient.

Accepting the 2018 Founder's Award from Principal Jeremy Mitchell, senior Daniel Loaney reflects on his experiences at West. The Founder's Award is given to the student who best exemplifies what West students stand for: good character, academics, school spirit and is the highest school honor. “I was overwhelmed, it was a surreal moment to look out and see four years of my life had gone by. I’ve loved this place, and being here," Loaney said. "It really meant a lot to me to see how I have impacted the school. I wanted to make the most of my time here at West so to be recognized was surreal and overwhelming.”
