Freshman Triya Gudipati types on a computer while sophomore Samari Sanders and freshman Cindy Phung write on paper. Gudipati found that typing became second nature as using pencil and paper became an infrequent occurrence. “We can submit something and get feedback much quicker,” Gudipati said. “There’s a lot more things we can do online that we can’t do on paper.”

Adding salt to the water, senior Donald Mahoney carefully measures ingredients to cook pasta in his Let’s Cook Together class Feb. 23. Mahoney took the class to improve his cooking skills, and so far the biggest challenge has been making sure he has everything he needs. “My favorite recipe is the no-bake cookies we made once,” Mahoney said. “I just love all of our cooking days.”

Using Procreate 5X, senior Rebecca Vierck demonstrates how attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social anxiety can make someone feel like being watched. Vierck’s piece conveyed the alienation felt from their peers. “A lot of media representation about ADHD is built upon stereotypes. Because of the comorbidity of my ADHD and social anxiety, I tend to feel anxious to stim in front of people in fears of seeming weird,” Vierck said. “I've had to cut off friends because of their disrespect for my sensory triggers. As a child, I would have multiple breakdowns a week over the texture of dinners that I was made to eat.”

Walking across the field, junior Callie DiCarlo attends softball practice on Sept. 16. The players wore masks during non-strenuous activities and distanced in the dugout. "It’s been hard especially because I feel for the seniors that their season isn’t normal, so I’ve been getting closer with girls on the team and it’s been lots of fun," DiCarlo said. "Our practices are definitely different right now due to health precautions."
