Standing on The Arch grounds, Kim St. Onge covers the St. Louis Blues rally after winning the Stanley Cup. St. Onge wore a headset to hear the anchors in her ear. “The crowd was so loud that day that even with the headset I could barely hear the show. I was on a stage in the middle of tens of thousands of people–pretty surreal. It was so cool to see the whole city come together to support the Blues. I’ll forever think of that day as one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” St. Onge said.

The assignment was focused on a specific artist that was individually assigned to the students by the teacher, Michelle Kerpash. “[The most interesting part of the unit was] just learning about new people. History teacher Mel Trotier plays his guitar during the passing period to collect donations for the anual Social Studies Department  canned food drive. Trotier began this tradition four years ago, to bring awareness to the fundraiser and raise money. “Even in a wealthy community, there’s still so many families that don’t have money to even eat through the holidays,” Trotier said. “I think it’s an important issue to bring up to kids that may not realize that somebody sitting in the classroom with them needs food.”

Spending a week with girls living with similar situations created an accepting space for Weber. “Sometimes I have a hard time putting on necklaces, and if I couldn’t do it, they understood; they didn’t question why I couldn’t do it,” Weber said. “One time I was doing my hair, and it took me four or five times to get it to where I liked it.
