After Dior lip oil became popular on TikTok, brands across the country began creating dupes. Dupe price points ranged from $8.25 to $24 with a similar packaged look.
Dior Lip Glow Oil
The original Dior Lip Glow Oil is a nourishing and hydrating lip gloss that is an excellent addition to any makeup routine. It gives your lips an intense glow and shines for hours. Dior has eight colors, ranging from clears to reds, light pinks and purples.
Unfortunately, it is sticky, which I dislike, and hoped that the dupes would offer an alternative. When I think of lip oil, I want it to be very light and smooth. However, the Dior Lip Glow Oil is thick, making it more of a glossy balm than an oil. I rate it 4/5 stars.
The product comes in 0.2 fluid-ounce tubes that will last the better part of a year. The packaging is sleek and clean looking. The lip gloss is sold at stores like Sephora, Ulta Beauty, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Dillards, Amazon and pretty much anywhere you can find beauty products. The price ranges from $38-40 depending on where you purchase it, but if you’re not willing to spend that much on lip gloss, here are some “dupes” you should try.
Kosas Wet Lip Oil
Kosas’s Wet Lip oil is $22 and comes in 1.59 fluid ounces. This oil comes in 12 colors; the brand recently released three new ones. Not only does the Kosas lip oil feel lighter than the Dior lip oil, but it also has a stronger color that shows up darker. Furthermore, the Kosas formula has peptides that help to plump your lips. Other ingredients include shea butter, avocado oil and konjac root that help nourish and hydrate your lips.
The packaging has a light blue handle and a clear tube with writing. I like the Kosas packaging better than the Dior because it seems more fun with the vibrant colors and fonts, and the reds and pinks of the lip oil look good against the blue tube.
The oil is sold at Sephora, The Kosas website and Nordstrom. I rate it 5/5 stars.
Merit
Merit Shade Slick tinted lip oil is 0.23 fluid ounces and costs $24. The product comes in eight shades. I love the color that this product gives your lips. It looks pretty and shiny but without the thick and sticky feeling. Plus, the oil lasts long, so you don’t need to reapply it often. The lip oil also is very hydrating and infused with Jojoba oil, rosehip oil and shea butter. Another bonus is the beautiful packaging, with a gold handle and writing.
However, one drawback to this product was the gritty texture of the oil, which may come from its hydrating ingredients. All of the other oils in my review went on very smoothly.
You can buy this product at Sephora and The Merit Website, and I rate it 3/5 stars.
Colourpop Lux Lip Oil
This product is the cheapest in my review costing $8.25-10 for 0.16 fluid ounces. This low price meant that quality was the lowest, although the product was still satisfactory. The pros of the lip oil are that it is hydrating and lasts a long time. Furthermore, you’re paying the least for this product when it is comparable to the Dior Lip Oil, which is four times the price. However, the Lux Lip Oil by Colourpop is very thick and a little sticky, which was disappointing as I was hoping for a light oil.
Colourpop offers four colors at Ulta. They also sell it on their website, where 19 shades can be found. Some colors may be harder to find because they are exclusively sold on the Colourpop website. The color is also satisfactory, giving you a sheer tint.
You can buy this at Target, Ulta and the Colourpop Website. I rate it 2/5 stars.
