Joseph Denklau
Already having a few ideas of which colleges he wants to apply to, senior Joseph Denklau wants to spend valuable time on friends and hobbies such as car photography. He finds joy in the speed and freedom offered by cars, and he grew up washing his family’s cars with his dad every weekend.
“I remember the first time I hung out with a friend who I hadn’t seen in a long time, and we got to know each other again. We went on a drive together, and I did a photo shoot of his car,” Denklau said. “That was one of my favorite memories because I knew this kid, but I didn’t know him well enough to call him my friend. Now I would say he’s one of my best friends.”
When he began high school, Denklau was focused on putting in effort to get good grades and succeed. As a senior, Denklau’s focus has shifted to his future. He is now managing Blue Brew and plans on studying business.
“I would say prepare for unexpected things. Life can be quite violent sometimes and throw things at you that you didn’t expect,” Denklau said. “[Getting involved in clubs and activities] was one of those things that I wish I spent even more time on because I look back and I wish I had done even more than I did. If I’d known that back then, I definitely would have been more involved and done more activities.”
