Describing the distinctive characteristics of the neighborhood, senior Nell Jaskowiak strolls through the produce stands at Soulard Market Oct. 25. History of St. Louis students traveled to downtown St. Louis and visited the Old Courthouse, Arch Grounds, Grand Avenue, Lafayette Square and the Downtown Architecture. “My favorite thing that I’ve learned about so far in the class is the diverse cultural backgrounds of all the different neighborhoods in St. Louis, learning about everything from Italian immigrants to the French settlers to the Czechs,” Jaskowiak said.
