Acting as a “ruler” in an AP World History class activity, sophomore Ayra Ali interacts with sophomore Sarah Hall and other students in a social hierarchy activity in which they took on the roles of various people in ancient societies. The activity allowed students to better understand the differences between people in different social classes. “It made me more aware of what life was like in the past, like how women had no rights and peasants didn’t have many either,” Ali said. “[As a ruler] I had way more privileges than the rest of my class and they couldn’t do as much as I could.”
