With the Longhorns now 5-5, upsetting Fort Zumwalt South last Friday night, they now have some momentum going into Friday night’s game against Parkway North, 7-3.
“Winning last Friday’s game against Fort Zumwalt South was a big win for us. Everyone was expecting them to win, but that didn’t stop us, we still came out strong and didn’t finish until the end of the fourth quarter,” junior Antonio Smith said.
Parkway North last week played Holt (0-10) and beat them 70-6.
“North has some momentum coming into Friday nights game, however, they weren’t playing as strong of a team as us. I think they are going to come out flat expecting to beat us easily. If they do this we will have a great chance to upset the second team we’ve played in two weeks,” senior Jack Russell said.
The Longhorns have not won a district game in a decade.
“A former Longhorn football player who graduated in my moms class sent a message into the football teams group chat, saying how proud he was of us. Him and a couple of his former teammates are coming to North to watch us play on Friday,” senior Evan Shukers said. “This really touched the whole team because we realized that we gave something that the Longhorn football community was thirsty for, for over 10 years. That was really special for us and we hope we can keep this streak going to the district championship game.”
Kick off time is at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30 at Parkway North High School.
