With Emily Goldenstein playing college golf at Memphis University and Jordan Roundtree transferring to Kirkwood, the Lady Longhorns have lost their top two scorers from last season.
The Longhorns went 17-10-1 last year and look to continue the upward trend.
“It’s going to be hard losing Jordan Roundtree because she’s such a good player and really benefited the team, but we still have a lot of talent in other girls and we work well as a team,” junior Megan Loaney said. “So I think that we will be able to make up for the huge loss.”
West has moved from the Suburban Southwest Conference to the Suburban Central Conference in the National Division for this season, which means that athletes will play schools closer in student body size to their home school.
“I think that the move down in divisions will help tremendously; now we wont have to play schools that have twice our student body,” junior Annie Kunz said.
The Longhorns are making the most of their preseason time, practicing everyday after school in preparation for the season0-opening jamboree Nov. 19 at Fox High School, at 5:30 p.m. The first regular season game is at home on Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m., against Rockwood Summit.
“You never make predictions, you never know what’s going to happen through the course of the season. We need kids that work hard and are good teammates,” Coach John Sloop said.
