As the weather gets colder, we tend to layer on more clothing items. But how do you layer without looking like a bulkier version of Shrek? The key is to make sure you’re not wearing two lightweight items or two heavier items.
When you’re getting dressed, go for one lightweight shirt under a heavier knit, and then top it off with a jacket. For instance, pair a navy plaid shirt with a grey or red sweater and then a lighter blazer or vest or a collared chambray shirt with a v-neck cardigan and a scarf. Either of these can be paired with jeans and boots or a skirt and flats.
Layering can also apply to jewelry, wear a dainty gold pendant with a chunky pearl necklace. Or do the opposite and wear a heavier statement necklace with a single strand pearl necklace. As far as bracelets go, it’s a little easier to layer just about any bracelets you want. Just make sure they don’t wind all the way up your arm. For example, pair a watch with a pearl bracelet and a statement bracelet.
See, it’s easier than it seems to layer and still look like you have a figure. Stay warm and fashionable in this cold weather, and don’t forget to stay classy!
