Twenty-four students in Marketing I and II went to New York City on Jan. 15 and returned on Jan. 19. Students were accompanied by Marketing teacher Glen Sutton, Annette Sutton and Business teacher Laura Glenn.
“The purpose of the trip was to allow students to experience real world marketing activities,” Glen Sutton said.
Students went to workshops through out the day as well as a Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden, Wicked the musical, Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Wall Street and the Empire State Building.
“The highlight was going to Wicked because the performers were so talented and it was funny,” junior Lee McMullin said.
Students attended a seminar where they created an advertisement campaign.
“We went to an entrepreneur who made and sold her own hats in SOHO. She talked to us about starting our own business and how we should always follow our dreams and do what ever you we passionate about,” junior Alison Owen said.
Students also went to a photography and Sports Illustrated workshop.
“The workshops were really interesting. I learned about marketing in real life and how to sell merchandise and get a first hand experience,” McMullin said.
Students received free time where they shopped, walked around and ate. Six students woke up early to get front row spots on the set of the Today show.
“The Today Show was so fun! I took a selfie with Carson Daly and shook Al Roker’s hand!” Owen said.
