Summer is only a month away, and we all know what that means: it’s concert season! Obsessed fans of all genres of music, from pop to country, await the little white envelope in the mail from TicketMaster. In the past, St. Louis has hosted big name artists, such as Dave Matthews Band, Fun and Toby Keith, all over the city. This summer will be no different.
For those alternative rock fans, Matchbox Twenty and Goo Goo Dolls are on tour, making a stop in St. Louis. Both bands were most popular in the mid- to late 90s, with famous songs “Unwell” by Matchbox Twenty and “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls. They will be stopping at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on July 9.
The annual Vans Warped Tour at Verizon on July 24 will entertain fans throughout the day by almost 74 artists. Some of these artists include 3OH!3, Forever the Sickest Kids and Relient k.
Get ready to show your “moves like Jagger,” because Maroon 5 will be coming with the first American Idol! winner Kelly Clarkson. Don’t miss Adam Levine show off his tatted biceps while singing “She Will Be Loved” or Clarkson belt a ballad. The concert will take place on Aug. 1 at Verizon. A week later, Bruno Mars will make his way to the Scottrade Center on Aug. 8.
“I’ve never been to a Bruno Mars concert,” senior Misri Patel said. “He is so dreamy, and his concerts seem really fun to be at.”
Calling all country music fans! Bandanas BBQ is once again sponsoring the annual Megaticket concert, and this lineup is sure to not disappoint. Brad Paisley kicks off the summer with Chris Young and Lee Brice on May 9, followed by artists such as Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban. Jason Aldean will wrap up the summer on Sept. 20. All concerts will be hosted at Verizon.
“I got the Megaticket last year, but I’m most excited to see Luke Bryan,” senior Kelly Stephenson said. “My goal is to have him call me up on stage and dance with him.”
Whether it’s watching Luke Bryan shake it for you, or Bruno Mars serenading you with a piano, the lineup of concerts this summer is one to look in to.
