Acting in a scene together, alumni Carson Lolley and Charlie Foy lead the show for Missouri State Improv. Lolley joined fall 2019, and helped recruit Foy who joined fall 2020. “Over the summer, I saw Carson post about it and I had reached out to a few other members of the team about joining,” Foy said. “You don’t really understand how refreshing it is to know someone on the team you want to be a part of, and she really made the team way more welcoming for me.”

From high school co-captains of the Running with Scissors Improv team to college presidents of the Missouri State Improv team, alumni Carson Lolley and Charlie Foy lead the Missouri State Improv team together....

Beginning his private chef business, alumnus Andrew Peterson decided to create a website to promote. Although the website makes marketing easier, Peterson has noticed that his business has been primarily popularized due to word of mouth. “Just over winter break, I did a dinner for a buddy, and his dad is a photographer, so he took a bunch of pictures for my website,” Peterson said. “It is really just people's word. It is like when you’re going to Amazon, and you see that one of the things has one five star review, but then another one has four hundred 4 star reviews. It is the same deal. [The food] is only as good as the people that are reviewing your food says it is.”

During the awards ceremony of the 2019 Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Speech and Debate tournament, seniors Luke Donovan and Kristina Humphrey await their names to be announced with their placement. Donavon and Humphrey qualified for state in the duet event and placed second overall in the tournament. “I stayed in speech and debate [for four years] because the team and people from other teams in the district are like my second family. While competition can be brutal, it’s worth it to be with the amazing people in Eastern Missouri,” Humphrey said. “Speech has made me grow as a person significantly.
