Students spend spring break on mission trips

While some West students spent their spring break catching rays on the beach and relaxing, seniors Abby Allgeyer, Jacob Cupps, Rachel Osborne and freshman Natalie Butler spent their time off sharing their Christian faiths on mission trips, both abroad and locally.

Upperclassmen experience exchange

Junior Tina Tang and senior Anna Worpvik spent the last three months on foreign soil, learning about and experiencing the American culture firsthand during their exchange periods. Tang will be here for a first semester; while Worpvik will be here for the full year.
Posting up, sophmore Allison Wagner guards the ball and looks for a pass. Wagner, along with sophomores Caroline Rath, Jamie Poppen, Natalie Rath and Katherine Martenet played on varsity. At first it felt like a lot of pressure, but once I got to know my teammates and I know how they played, I became more comfortable, Wagner said.

Girls Basketball looks to thrive after loss of seniors

Librarian Brian Welch stayed after school for five hours on Oct. 15 to help students with their research papers for English IV.
On their road to state, juniors Ava Larson and Claire Martin competed against Lafayettes top State ranked doubles team. When Claire and I beat Lafayette in team districts, I think deep down we both knew we could do it; but it was awesome when we actually did it, Larson said.

The Missouri State Tennis Tournament begins in Springfield, MO, today. For the second time in a row,West will be sending their top-ranked doubles team to the competition. Last time, it was alumni William Tong and junior Kenji Yanaba. This time, it will be juniors Claire Martin and Ava Larson playing for their own state title.
