At a field hockey team dinner, sophomores Sarah Kline and Annie Zahoran blow up another balloon for a competition to see who could not let the balloon drop to the floor on Sept. 2. Members of the field hockey program met at Coach Dawn Callahan’s house for a team dinner of Italian food.  “We were playing keep it up with the balloons as a competition between our three teams, but we ended up popping all of them. I was really struggling [to blow the balloons up] but we ended up having a lot of fun anyways," Kline said.

During a game against the Lindbergh Flyers, sophomore Karen Trevor-Roberts guards her goal. “I do everything to make sure the ball doesn’t get into the goal, even during practice when a lot of balls are being shot against me,” Trevor-Roberts said. “[Field hockey] gives you a family. It teaches me teamwork and even helps with social skills. It also teaches me how to balance school and sports.”

Getting ready for their first session, the field hockey team meets other campers in preparation for training. The camp consisted of five training sessions over three days, totalling at just over 10 hours of practice. “We were barely in our dorm rooms because we were busy going to practices, games and of course meals,” senior and varsity captain Olivia Reimer said. “[Before this camp] we had never gone out of town with our team, so it helped us bond and learn more skills that we can incorporate into this season.”
