Members of the Class of 2016 registered for an Indoor Soccer league at Vetta Concord this week. Members of Team Bobby have high hopes of defeating the boys and girls coed indoor soccer team.
“Last year there was one sophomore team, but trouble arose when some students took it more seriously than others,” junior Grant Bruggenjohann said.
To fix the problem, the team has split into two squads this year, with leadership from the varsity soccer defenseman, junior Matt Pilgrim and varsity wide receiver junior Bobby Connor.
“Team Bobby is going for the fun experience, but Team Pilgrim wants a more competitive atmosphere,” junior Ally Guccione, a team Pilgrim member said.
Connor has a different outlook on his team.
“We are looking to enjoy indoor, but also have a competitive side. The team I put together consists of 18 well-trained athletes that will come together and beat Matt Pilgrim’s squad,” Connor said.
The teams will play on Friday or Saturday nights, at Vetta Concord, at 12320 Old Tesson Rd., between 11p.m. and 12 a.m.
“I love that we play at night on the weekends, it gives us all something we can do together other than school. After the game members of Team Connor will go out for a team dinner at Uncle Bills after each victory,” junior Lily Briscoe said.
The season begins Nov. 8 and fans of all ages are welcomed to attend.
“We’re looking for fans at all grade levels. Come out and show your support. Pick a side, make a navy blue shirt for team bobby and show your Longhorn pride,” junior Daniel Bickert said.
