Friday, November 30 at Neon Night the JV boy’s basketball team defeated Central in their home opener with a final score of 43 to 31.
The team was losing 1-15 after the first quarter and but came back to tie at the end of the fourth. As the team started overtime, the crowd went crazy.
“I was more relaxed than I thought I would be going into overtime,” Casey Holland, JV coach said.
Freshman Caleb Socha helped the team in their come back by scoring 13 points and going 4/4 with his free throws.
“I was really excited because it was the most fun game I’ve played in,” Socha said.
Socha was awarded “Player of the Game” by Holland and he had to wear a bow tie on the day of their next home game.
“Basketball is fun for me because I like the pace and the guys on my team,” Socha said.
Another standout was sophomore Austin Sisk. He scored ten points and helped bring the whole teams energy’s up.
“We won because we played good defense and we increased our energy during the second half,” Sisk said.
The JV team continues to train daily and before games they all bond by watching videos and eating snacks in Holland’s room.
“This team is very close knit and they are all really good friends,” Holland said.
