The Boys’ Swimming and Diving team celebrates after winning the Parkway Quad Thursday, October 18. The team beat Parkway Central by three 420 to 417. Earlier in the season, West lost to Central by five points.
“When Tommy Christensen had the lead by two body lengths, we knew we were going to win. It was a good feeling knowing we set a new standard for West. We hadn’t won the quad in three years,” senior Sam Luethy said.
The scoring at the Parkway Quad is different than a dual meet. The top 12 swimmers score and the top 12 relays all score points. In a dual meet only the top three relays score team points.
“We have a very young, deep squad, this year. Since all of the relays were able to score points it gave us an extra edge over Central, showing that we have more depth on our squad. Overall the win was a huge victory for us,” Coach Allison Zeller said.
