The boys’ swim and dive team heads into their final meets with a record of 9-1. They kept a five game winning streak until their loss with Central by only five points.
“We made it hard for them and tried our best,” sophomore Noah Bozue said. “We also set some personal records on the team. We’ll do better next time.”
Along with setting multiple personal records, the team has increased the number of state qualifiers. The individual qualifiers include junior Ryan Schlueter, senior captain Sam Luethy, juniors Grant Keesling and junior Tommy Christensen. Other swimmers have made the cut as part of a relay team, including sophomore Philip LePoidevin and freshman Joe Ross.
“One of our strengths is relays,” Luethy said. “We have a lot of good freshmen who add to this team.”
As for next year, the team will only be losing three seniors, so they are confident the new players will continue the strong program.
“The freshmen bring a new depth to the team,” Bozue said. “I think we’ll have a good next few years.”
