Senior Kelsey Long writes her monthly letter that she sends to the child, Briani, she sponsors in Honduras. Long was excited to be able to tell Briani about her life and update her on what happened over the course of the month. “I am very grateful for the opportunity to hear about a different culture firsthand,” Long said. "It helped me to realize that there is so much more outside of where I live. She is living in a completely different environment and has very limited resources, and is still so thankful for everyday. It inspires me to be thankful for my life as well.”

Perched in her window seat with her laptop, junior Kelsey Long works on her novel. Long has been working on revising and editing since August 2018. “I make the most progress during the summers. I usually write from 4-9 p.m. and then sporadic times throughout the day if I’m at home. During the school year, I work a couple hours in the evening a couple times a week and then some on the weekends,” Long said.
