“I'm interested in a career in photography. I plan on traveling, and I'd like to intern or shadow a photographer. There's a program I'm looking into where I would spend 12 weeks in Spain, and be able to see amazing sights and learn the language. I decided to take a gap year because I felt that going straight to college was not going to be beneficial for me and taking a year to figure out what I wanted to do. I was worried I was gonna regret it but I have been thinking about how to be more excited for it compared to nervous and worried. I think the more I plan, what I want to do, and thinking about all the cool trips I can go on, it makes me more excited compared to being nervous for a gap year.” -Anna Amato

“[This year] has gone extremely well. While there have been times that I've been a little bit overwhelmed with trying to figure out my pacing, with the curriculum, I'm really happy with how much we've accomplished this year. I am extremely excited [to come back] because I will know what the students are like, and I'm just excited to see my current students again in the halls next year. I have the same worries [for next year]. Am I reaching all of the students? Am I helping them the best that I can? Those are my constant worries as an educator and they'll continue to be my worries going forward.” - Stephanie Robert, Science

Senior Grant Meert prepares to throw a white pine Christmas tree through a netting machine. Of the many species of trees, Meert Tree Farm grows — including Scotch pine, Norway spruce, Virginia pine, Fraser fir and Michigan Scotch pine — Meert’s favorite is white pine. “Picking your tree gives people a good experience. It’s something that everyone needs to do at least once,” Meert said. “It gives customers a family memory and bonding time. I like having that time [with my family], and [we] make it a whole day.”
