The process of receiving the certificate began with Plocher reading the definition of each virtue, then the student taking the stage and snapping a picture with him. “It was a wholesome moment because we're all seniors, so we all know each other, we've grown up with each other for the past eight years. When each of us got called up, we knew that they deserved that award because the description matched that person,” Ahn said.

While Principal Jeremy Mitchell misses three school days during the 2019-2020 school year, Pupillo finds himself constantly trying to reach out to Mitchell and forgetting that he was out of office. At the end of the week, Pupillo created a “Missing” milk carton for Mitchell and left it on his desk when he returned. “You have to laugh at life sometimes,” Mitchell said. “For me [this memory] a reminder that Dr. Mitchell is someone that I can joke with. I’m a firm believer in the importance of laughter and the idea that we should all take ourselves less seriously once in a while.”
