Jumping toward the basket, above his opponents, junior Tyler King launches the ball. Ending the game 84 to 61, King made one of the winning baskets. “Beating [Parkway] South was one of my favorite parts of the game. We played to crush them and that is what we did,” King said.

I am a sophomore and this is my second year on staff. I joined The Pathfinder because it allows me to share other people’s stories who might not have a voice or those who might not have the resources to share it themselves. One of my main values that I like to uphold is to treat others as how you want to be treated. I uphold this value by making sure that the people I am interacting with are comfortable in the situation and environment that we are in. At the moment, I am very interested in rock climbing because it allows me to use my brain to find different ways to get up a rock wall. I am very interested in equal rights, I want to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and that they can have a normal life without being scared to be who they are. One thing about me is that thunderstorms are very calming to me, they allow me to find a calm in the chaos of life.

What was your favorite childhood TV show? Jessie, Victorious, Shake it Up – all of the classics
What is your favorite book? It’s difficult to pick one, but I would say a classic is always Harry Potter
What motivates you? My family and friends are some of the biggest motivations in my life. I always strive to do better to make them proud and try to be even just a fraction of the people they are. Other than that, I would say I self-motivate a lot, because I want to leave a positive impact, however big or small, on the world.
