The team left school to compete at their 3:15p.m. game at Visitation Academy on Monday, May 15. The game surpassed regulation time when the game was tied 0-0 at the end of the standard 80 minutes. After 94 minutes of hard work, the girls lost 1-0 to Visitation in overtime.
“It was a hard way to end the season. We were unlucky but we played our hearts out and that’s all you can ask for,” senior captain Carly Rath said.
The team expected a difficult game, but was determined to finish the season strong regardless of a win or loss.
“I thought we all played as hard as we could and I’m really proud of this team. Although we lost, we accomplished our team goals,” freshman Layne Bierk said.
The girls took on number one (large schools) Webster Groves, number four (large schools) Nerinx Hall, number seven (large schools) Ladue, number three (small schools) Westminster and ended with a record of 10-9-1.
“Shutting down Westminster and Visitation’s key players was a challenge. When I man marked them my goal was to defend them and make sure they didn’t touch the ball,” Rath said.
The team ended their season with a record of 10-9-1.
“Overall we a had a good season. We played a lot of really good teams and played incredibly well against them,” junior Emma Moss said.
