Refine Skateboard Company Co-founder, Cody Corbin, spent Jan. 26-28 in Orlando, FL showcasing his skateboard line at the Global Watersports and Beach Lifestyle Tradeshow.
The expo displayed the world of board sports along with vendors like Corbin’s. Over 1000 exhibitors displayed what their brands had to offer.
“It was a really great opportunity and learning experience. We attracted a lot of buyers and bounced ideas off of other like minded people,” Corbin said.
The show displayed vendors as well as sold merchandise all made to impress consumers.
“We only sold about three or four boards at the show itself, although most of the sales will come after the show when people have a chance to look over your stuff more on your website,” Corbin said.
As a vendor, the Corbins looked at the consumers to gain a better understanding of their wants and needs.
“It was really good to get people’s feedback. We learned the margin between wholesale and retail value that retailers are looking to hit, and we got to think about where are prices should be,” Corbin said.
Corbin was proud the work that he and his father displayed at the tradeshow.
“People stopped in and said that they liked our design, that it really stood out from the rest. They appreciated the amount of work we are putting in,” Corbin said.
Although Corbin was happy how the booth was run, he hopes to change his pitch next year.
“I think we did really well for a first time, but we could perfect how we explained our company and bring some more completed boards,” Corbin said. “It was a lot of fun, there was not anything I would really want to change. It was a fantastic experience.”
