After Trump’s executive order banning Muslims from seven countries, groups gathered in front of the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse in downtown St. Louis to protest. Freshman Sabrina Bohn attended the STL Protest Against Muslim Ban and Anti- Immigration Orders on Saturday Feb. 4.
Bohn has been following Trump’s presidency closely since the day he got elected.
“I was and still am upset about the actions Trump took to ban immigration from muslim majority countries, and I really wanted to do something about it. I think that this executive order is extremely islamophobic because it targets muslims, and furthers the stereotype that all of them are terrorists.”
Bohn has never attended a protest before, but she was excited to unite with like minded people who fear for the people of our country
“The atmosphere was very inviting and inclusive. It felt so great to march and chant with everyone around, and my favorite part of the protest was probably realizing that all these people were ready to oppose the islamophobic, racist things that Trump is doing.”
Bohn marched to the arch in solidarity among hundreds of protesters in Downtown St. Louis
“I hope that other people realize the importance of standing up against islamophobia and any type of prejudice, especially right now. It is so sad that people are being taken away from their families and being hurt just because of their religion.”
