Junior Maddy Brown’s church, First Free Evangelical (E-free), has raised $65,000 for the organization International Partnership of Burkina Faso. The money will go towards funding missionaries, paying for equipment to dig wells, as well as food and medical supplies that will be given to the African citizens of the land-locked town of Burkina Faso in West Africa.
The church is aligned with numerous community organizations and raises donations for the International Partnership of Burkina Faso once a year.
The fundraiser was coordinated by the adult ministry leaders of the church and will be accepting donations until January.
“Our goal is to help as many people as we can because these people can not help themselves. We want to help even just one person because we may not change the world, but we can change their world,” Brown said.
Brown personally raised $100 for the organization.
“I have learned that instead of wondering who’s going to get up and ‘do something’ I need to realize that I’m the one who needs to do something,” Brown said.
The church also takes part in charities and organizations in Mexico for building houses, local ministries to help refugees and some that send Christmas presents to kids all over the world.
“I’ve been going here since June, but I love it and have gotten really involved,” Brown said.
Brown was introduced to the church by Andrew Osborne and his sister sophomore Rachel Osborne.
Church members can volunteer to go and help build the schools and wells along with the people that are in the organization.
“I chose to raise money at school because there are a ton of beautiful people who I knew would love to help!” Brown said.
