For the second year in a row, the library and Jazz Choir are banning together to raise money for the Jazz Choir program at Barnes and Noble. On Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. the Jazz Choir, led by music teacher Brian Parrish, will perform holiday songs at the Chesterfield Barnes and Noble.
“We need money. This is a great money raiser. It promotes reading and helps the Jazz Choir. I think one of the goals of Mr. Parrish is to help the group perform more and get more experience. It is an opportunity for the students to perform in front of a non-student audience,” librarian Mary Ann McFarland said.
Customers who are at the store to support the school must tell the cashier when they check out and the proceeds will go to the library and Jazz Choir. The Book Club will also be available to wrap the purchase. All purchases with the exception of magazines, gift cards and anything from the coffee shop will provide proceeds to West.
“It is a lot of fun and the book club helps wrap packages. It is an easy way to raise money for the school,” McFarland said.
The fundraiser will continue Dec. 13-17. If you would like to make an online purchase while supporting the Jazz Choir, enter the ID code 11252863 when you purchase a product.
“We are hoping for a better turn out this year although there was a fairly good turn out last year. We would love to see more people there,” McFarland said.
