The first home game for the school’s Softball team will be August 28. Hitting off the fifth season as the girl’s varsity softball coach, Jeff Chazen is prepared.
“We have a lot of experience returning which is a strong factor in our favor,” Chazen said. “If everyone focuses on their specific roles and responsibilities, we will succeed.”
All-Conference returning key players to watch out for are juniors Kennedy Frank, Ellie Ottensmeyer, sophomore Grace Gwin and senior Ali Wotruba.
“Maddie Gauch will be one of the stronger catchers in the area,” Chazen said.
The teams consist of nine girls on J.V. and 13 on varsity, with no freshmen team. Varsity will play 25 games, and J.V. will play about 20.
“I’m really excited to start this season. The team is full of support” Frank said.
Although all of the games will be important, the team’s biggest competitions are Seckman, Summit and Webster.
“Our offense should be one of the best in the area and our defense should be solid. Practices are more detailed. Pitching will be the key to this season,” Chazen said, “Everyone has a key role”.
Junior Hannah Lois is the new pitcher and this is her first year in the role. To prepare for being a pitcher, Lois has been practicing and training with her pitching coach.
“It is hard but I’m looking forward to it,” Lois said.
The members softball team are not only excited and determined– they are confident.
“I think our record will be awesome,” junior Lee McMullin said.
