On Monday Feb. 25, girls’ lacrosse tryouts began. On the first day, tryouts consisted of an informational meeting about the upcoming season. Tuesday, the players ran, performed drills and did plyos, a series of warm-up exercises such as skipping and lunges.
“It would’ve been hard for people who aren’t used to the conditioning we do but if you’re used to conditioning, it’s pretty easy,” junior Kit Rowan said.
In the pre-season, open-gyms were held twice a week, starting in November. During open-gyms, players worked on basic skills and did small drills. The athletes were expected to run on their own time outside of the open-gyms.
“I am very excited about the upcoming season and cannot wait for it to start and to see what the girls will accomplish this year,” coach Emily Lovercheck said. “Last year we were ranked seventh in state and made it to the quarterfinals of the state tournament. This year our goal is to advance further in the state tournament.”
