Along with a 14-12-1 record and an opportunity to compete with rival’s Parkway Central in Districts, the boys varsity soccer team experienced a different kind of victory.
Out of 336 other high school sports teams throughout the United States, the team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA) High School Team Academic Award.
“This is the second time the team has earned this award from the NSCAA,” Coach Michael Skordos said.
The team earned an average 3.34 GPA for 2011 and 2012 school year, needing only a 3.25 to qualify.
“Since the coaching staff is made up of teachers, we all value academics first. The ability to participate in Soccer is just the reward,” Skordos said.
