The last installment of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part II, starring Kristin Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, emerged at number one for the third week in a row at the box office.
The depth of this series has brought out the most dedicated fans, especially at the midnight premieres. Junior Sam Massara went to the earliest showing of the finale she could find.
“Since there was a 10 o’clock showing at the Chesterfield Mall, the lines were not as long. Because this was the final movie, the amount of propaganda was almost non-existent,” Massara said.
Senior Robert Vardiman, however, went to a different theatre and encountered an opposite experience.
“At the Esquire, Twi-Hard fans were everywhere. Edward and Bella blankets were there to make the cold weather bearable,” Vardiman said, “Werewolf t-shirts surrounded the Team Jacob groups. The anticipation was very intense.”
Coming in at number seven on the Top Ten Worst Actors list by The Top Tens, Kristin Stewart received mixed reviews on her performance in the epic ending.
“Her acting is a lot better in this one. It’s as if she has more confidence,” freshman Kristian Marble said.
Others, however, has differing viewpoints.
“While I adore their love story, Kristen Stewart just makes it seem corny and laughable at times,” Vardiman said.
The movie itself was a worldwide success, grossing over $254 million in the United States, and $750 million worldwide.
“My favorite scene was when Alice came to save the day and it was their crew versus the Volturi,” Marble said, “But since the rest of it is the huge twist that everyone is talking about, I won’t say anything more to give it away.”
Full of emotion and closure, Breaking Dawn Part II has been nominated for the 2013 People’s Choice Awards.
“This is the best movie of the year, better than all of the others combined,” Vardiman said.
